Tickets for the first of our three Platform shows, this summer at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith are now on sale.
The first event takes place on May 25th and features live rehearsed readings from exciting new writers and kicks off with Black Love, by Ellen Davies.
“Sometimes it feels like a black girl gotta be watered down to succeed”
BLACK LOVE follows charming West London native Adeola who is attending Notting Hill Carnival for her first time. It doesn’t quite turn out to be the jubilant experience she wanted it to be. Grappling with a nasty breakup and questionable life decisions, the story develops after a few cups of Wray’s infused rum punch. Elan Davies explores identity, culture, relationships, and the importance of black joy in this groundbreaking one woman play zinging with music, poetry, art and movement.
Elan Davies is a Welsh–Zambian– award-winning Welsh language actor and emerging writer. She has rapidly gained recognition as a rising talent in Wales. Her short film ‘INHERITANCE’ is being developed with BAFTA-Winning Director Emily Burnett. Production begins later this year. Elan is known for multidisciplinary performance and creates work that blends acting, writing, and movement.
